This specimen was lot 2783 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "DANISH INDIA: TRANQUEBAR: Christian VII, 1766-1808, AE 2 kas, 1770, full date; pleasant strike, VF, RR, ex Solar Collection. Previously sold in our Auction 20, lot 1843." The Danish fort at Tranquebar was sold to the British in 1845. During the reign of Christian VI, the lead cash was dropped in favor of a copper coin. As the one and two cash were reduced in weight, the four and ten cash were added to supplement the denominations. This type is listed for 1767-70 and 1777.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 1.20 g, copper, this specimen 1.30 g.
