This specimen was lot 664 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "DANISH INDIA: TRANQUEBAR: Christian VII, 1766-1808, AR 2 royaliner, 1770, final digit partly off flan, but must be "0", as the bottom of the letter C on obverse curves inward, found only on years 1767-1770, very rare date, VF-XF, RR, ex Dr. John Lund Collection, ex Brian Hannon, ex SARC Auction 25 Lot 1596. Christian VII was the King of Denmark and Norway and Duke of Schleswig and Holstein from 1766 to 1808." The SCWC notes that the royalin was worth eighty cash or one-eighth of a rupee. This two royaliner was struck fairly steadily 1767-76, 1779-89, 1792-99 and 1807 but is rare. The Danish fort at Tranquebar was sold to the British in 1845.
