Tranquebar in 1942, north of Karikal

This specimen was lot 663 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "DANISH INDIA: TRANQUEBAR: Christian VII, 1766-1808, AE 10 kas, 1770, crowned DAC monogram, "X.KAS" and date below, bold strike, choice VF, R, ex Solar Collection." The Danish fort at Tranquebar was sold to the British in 1845. During the reign of Christian VI, the lead cash was dropped in favor of copper. The SCWC also notes this type for 1768 and 1777.
