This specimen was lot 3432 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Zurich. Taler, 1790. NGC MS-63. Popular city view Taler. Struck with slightly worn dies evidenced by a slight lack of fine detail to the highest points of relief and some die rust which is seen under close scrutiny. Very attractive with strong luster throughout the city scene and the obverse arms. Eye catching toning with hues ranging from bright golden yellow to deep oxblood red to translucent sky blue. Tied with one other example in this grade with only one piece graded one point finer. From the Ellis W. Tallman Collection." This one year type is somewhat scarce. In 1798, the canton of Zurich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
