Sincona sale 4, lot 4429

This specimen was lot 4429 in Sincona sale 4 (Zurich, October 2011) where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$213 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Oldenburg, seit 1774 Herzogtum Paul Friedrich August, 1829-1853. Taler 1846. Kl. Kr. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Duchy of Oldenburg, Paul Frederick Augustus, 1829-53, thaler of 1846. Hairlines, very fine to extremely fine)."

Despite the small mintage, this one year type is not especially expensive, suggesting that it was extensively saved.

Recorded mintage: 42,000.

Specification: 22.27 g, 0.750 fine silver, .536 troy oz ASW, this specimen 22,11 g.

Catalog reference: Kahnt 320. Thun 240. Dav-752, KM 178.
