Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 55601

This specimen was lot 55601 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 12 Mariengroschen, 1771-IAP. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg III (George III of Great Britain). PCGS AU-58. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1762-84 and is common. The SCWC catalogs this as a one-third thaler, a coin of the same value.
