Aureo sale 261, lot 294

This specimen was lot 294 in Aureo sale 261 (Barcelona, July 2014), where it sold for €35 (about US$56 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1717. Felipe V. Madrid. J. 1 real. Pátina. Escasa. MBC+/MBC. (Philip V, 1700-46, one real of 1717, Madrid mint. Toned, scarce, very fine or better.)"

This type was issued in Madrid 1717, 1721, 1726-45 for Philip V. The SCWC lists the type as common but this date is scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.917 fine silver, .099 troy oz ASW.
