This specimen was lot 32266 in Heritage sale 3105 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $16,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Holland. Provincial gold 10 Stuivers (1/2 Gulden) 1689 MS63+ Prooflike NGC, Always scarce as a 2 Ducat weight off-metal striking in gold, bestowed deeply patinated harvest gold appearances that elevate already appreciable amounts of visual allure. Pondlike resplendence abounds this small gold fractional type which remains a touch Prooflike, the exacting strike revealing near-medallic features that project boldly towards the viewer. Of note is an especially fine reverse, broadcasting resounding flash for the assigned grade. From the Coenen Collection." This ten stuivers was struck for circulation 1681-82, 1688 and 1692 and is not common. The gold presentation strike was done 1688-89 only and no silver issue exists for 1689.
