UBS sale 84, lot 2161

This specimen is lot 2161 in UBS sale 84 (Basel, January 2010). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Zürich, Stadt. Dukat 1680. Nach links schreitender Löwe mit Schwert und Wappenschild. Rv. Schrift mit Jahreszahl auf Engelskartusche. Selten. Vorzüglich-FDC" (Switzerland, city of Zurich, ducat of 1680. Obv: lion facing left with sword and shield. Rev: cherub with cartouche bearing city motto and date. Rare, extremely fine-uncirculated).

This type was struck 1673-97 but is rare like all ducats of Zurich. Friedberg lumps KM A90, KM 90 and KM 105.1 into Fr-464.

Specification: 3.5 g, .986 fine gold, this specimen: 3.45 grams.
