This specimen was lot 1835 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabruck, June 2015), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,455 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"CORREGGIO Siro d'Austria, 1616-1630. Testone (Lira da 24 Soldi) 1617. Beischlag zu den Dicken von Luzern. Von großer Seltenheit. Dunkle Patina, leichte Prägeschwäche, sehr schön. (Italy, Correggio, Siro of Austria, 1616-30, teston of 1617, struck over a dicken of Luzern, Switzerland. Very rare, dark toning, lightly cleaned, very fine.)"
The county of Correggio (home of the painter Antonio Allegri (1489-1534), called Correggio) was annexed to the duchy of Modena in 1659 wherein we have filed this coin. The SCWC lists no issues from this locale.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
