This specimen was part of lot 3366 in Goldberg sale 85 (Los Angeles, June 2015), which sold for $676. The catalog description[1] noted, "Israel. Gold 5000 Lirot plus two silver 200 Lirot, 1980. KM-105, 104. Gold weight 0.5000 ounce. For the 32nd Anniversary of Independence. Shalom. In original custom wood box. Lot of 3 coins. 5000 Lirot Choice Brilliant Proof, 200 Lirot's Proof and BU." This is the only issue of this denomination tho it is safe to say that no gold coin of Israel actually circulated. It is accompanied by a silver 200 lirot (KM 104). Massive influx of aid from the United States fueled inflation and coinage reforms in 1960, 1980 and 1985.

Recorded mintage: 6,382 proofs.

Specification:17.28 g, .900 fine gold, 30 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-105.
