Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 41695

This specimen was lot 41695 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $336. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 2 Pence, 1766. London Mint. George III. NGC MS-65. Population 1, none finer at NGC." This type was struck for circulation and the Maundy sets 1763-66, 1772, 1776, 1780, 1784-86. Because many Maundy sets were saved, this groat is fairly available in high grade.
