The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Cook Islands|COOK ISLANDS]]. 100 Dollars, 1979-FM. Pennsylvania (Franklin) Mint. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. Struck to commemorate membership in the Commonwealth of Nations." The Cook Islands, like many small, impoverished nations, has contracted with private mints to produce and market a large variety of commemoratives marketed in lands far from the issuing country. This one honors the admission of the Cook Islands to the Commonwealth of Nations.
