Revision as of 21:37, 5 April 2022
This specimen was lot 31926 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Bolivar 1912 MS64 NGC. The highest grade level for this scarcely offered type; fully lustrous with a light overlaying tone, the argent planchet blushing with a pinkish patina. An extreme conditional rarity." The wide and narrow dates for 1912 are priced the same. The years 1929, 1935-36 are the common dates. Silver fractionals and multiples of bolivares did not possess the name of the denomination. Instead, the weight of the coin and silver fineness is listed on the side with the coat of arms.
Recorded mintage: 820,000.
Specification: 5 g, .835 fine silver, 23 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-Y22.
