This specimen was lot 10737 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $258. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Skilling, 1832. Attractive Chocolate toning. EXTREMELY FINE." By the reform of 1830, 32 skilling banco = one riksdaler. This one-year type is scarce. The type of 1835-43 with a modified reverse is much more available. The denomination was terminated in 1855. Carl was originally a general in Napoleon's army who accepted the Swedish king's invitation to marry the king's daughter and become his heir. He ruled 1818-44 and his descendants reign over Sweden today.
