Künker sale 294, lot 3433

This specimen was lot 3433 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €850 (about US$1,146 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Leopold II. 1790-1792. Dukat 1791, A, Wien. GOLD. R Sehr schön +. Exemplar der Auktion UBS 64, Zürich 2006, Nr. 2467. (Holy Roman Empire, Leopold II, 1790-92, ducat of 1791, Vienna mint. Scarce, very fine or better.)"

This type was struck 1790-92 at A (Vienna, shown here), B (Kremnitz), E (Karlsburg), F (Prague) and G (Gunzburg). It is rare compared to the ducats of Joseph II (KM 1874) or Francis II (KM 1886).

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 3.49 g, .986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.48 g.

Catalog reference: Fr-449; J. 82; KM 1883.
