Stack's Bowers October 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72082

This specimen was lot 72082 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "KENYA. 5 Cents, 1990. PCGS PROOF-66 Gold Shield. Sharply struck with hard mirrored fields and incredible brilliance. Just six have been graded finer in the PCGS census. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." Jomo Kenyatta, member of the Kikuyu tribe, was the first president of Kenya (1964-1978) and appears on all coins of that period. Perennial president Daniel Arap Moi (ruled 1978-2002), appears on coins starting in 1978. The five cents shown was issued 1978-81, 1984-91.
