Stack's Bowers October 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72080

This specimen was lot 72080 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "KENYA. 10 Cents, 1990. PCGS SPECIMEN-65 Gold Shield. This vibrant Gem offers tremendous radiance and brilliance, with surfaces that present a mirrored nature. Tied with just three other examples for the finest in the PCGS census. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." Jomo Kenyatta, member of the Kikuyu tribe, was the first president of Kenya (1964-1978) and appears on all coins of that period. Daniel Arap Moi appears on coins starting in 1978. The ten cents shown was issued 1978-81, 1984-91. In 1994, it was converted to brass plated steel and in 1995, the size was reduced.
