This specimen was lot 1085 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $558.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREECE. 10 Lepta, 1828. NGC AU-55 BN. Lovely chocolate brown surfaces." After wresting her independence from the Turks, Greece was established as a republic under John Capodistrias. This regime lasted until 1831, during which time copper one, five, ten and twenty lepta were issued. All are scarce.
