Sta ANA 30375r.jpg

This specimen was lot 30375 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Peso, 1849. Bogotá Mint. PCGS Genuine--Mount Removed, Fine Details Secure Holder. RARE type." This type is listed in KM and Friedberg as a two pesos for 1849 and 1851 and is scarce. It superseded a two pesos struck at Popayan 1838-46, which is much more common. The last gold two pesos was struck in 1863.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.22 g, .900 fine gold.

Catalog reference: Fr-81; KM-99; Res-type-203#2; Sedwick-11.
