This specimen was lot 23991 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg. Ernst August Taler 1682-HB, VF, a rare type with handsome gunmetal toning over attractive surfaces. This lot is accompanied by a photo-certificate from the International Numismatic Society." This type is catalogued as rare. The Duchy of Brunswick was divided and subdivided in the seventeenth century but was eventually reassembled as the Kingdom of Hannover before being absorbed into Prussia in 1866.
