This specimen was lot 30964 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italy: Genoa. Biennial Doges gold 2 Doppie (Quadrupla) 1623-GF AU58 NGC, Genoa mint. Offering near-Mint State appeal, this lustrous "Quadrupla" exhibits lustrous golden fields, its struck details virtually without wear. A desirable type representative, and the first of this date that we have encountered." This type was struck 1592-1637 and represented four ducats. Despite the long period of production, it remains rare.

Specification: 14 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 13.39 g.
