This specimen was lot 5544 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $460. The catalog description[2] noted, "Estonia. 5 Marka, 1926. National arms. Reverse: Value. NGC graded MS-62." Estonia, long occupied by Czarist Russia, obtained its independence in the aftermath of World War One. Reoccupied by the Russians in 1940, she was subject to Soviet rule until 1991, when the collapse of the Communists allowed the Estonians to once again reclaim independence. This one year type must have melted as it is now quite scarce.
Recorded mintage: 1,038,000.
