from Sincona sale 11, lot 2141

This specimen was lot 2141 in Sincona sale 11 (Zurich, May 2013), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$433 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NIEDERLANDE Holland, Provinz ½ Gulden 1682. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (Netherlands, province of Holland, half gulden of 1682, extremely fine.)"

This type, tariffed at ten stuivers, was struck 1682 and 1694 only in Holland. Two and three gulden also exist. Later issues of the eighteenth century were marked ten stuivers, not half a gulden.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 5.3 g, .920 fine silver, this specimen 5.21 g.

Catalog reference: Nederl. Munt. 2.18.85, KM 65.
