Künker Auction 425, lot 1425

This specimen was lot 1425 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €400 (about US$567 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand I., 1835-1848. Dukat 1838 B, Kremnitz. Feingold. GOLD. Henkelspur, sehr schön. (empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, ducat of 1838, Kremnitz mint. Mount mark, very fine.)"

This type was struck 1837-48 in substantial numbers from Vienna (Fr-481), Kremnitz (shown here), Karlsburg (Fr-226) and Venice (Fr-1504). Some authorities list this issue under Hungary but it differs only in mintmark from the Vienna product.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, 20 mm diameter, this specimen 3,44 g.

Catalog reference: KM 2262, Fr-225; J. 247; Schl. 274.
