Heritage sale 3073, part of lot 31306

This specimen was part of lot 31306 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), which sold for $14,400. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Elizabeth II 6-Piece gold 'First World War Centenary' Proof Set 2016, 1) 'Somme' 5 Pounds, S-4862; 2) 'Jack Cornell VC' 5 Pounds, S-4863; 3) 'Jutland' 5 Pounds, S-4864; 4) 'Marching' 5 Pounds, S-4865; 5) 'Trenches' 5 Pounds; 6) 'Naval Guns' 5 Pounds, S-4867; S-PGC19. An extremely low-mintage gold set, only 25 produced (of which this set is the last, numbered 25). Created in 2016, marking 100 years since the middle of WWI, each of these pieces depicts a different facet of the Great War; all flawless, brilliant Proofs, accompanied by their original box of issue and COA #25. AGW 7.06500." Many of these NCLT's were simultaneously issued in silver or even platinum; we don't know if that was done in this case.

Recorded mintage: 600 in silver plus 25 in gold.

Specification: KM 1396: 28.28 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38.61 mm diameter; KM 1396a: 39.94 g, 0.917 fine gold, edge lettered MEN WHO MARCH AWAY.
