This specimen was lot 4530 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$194 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Waadt/Vaud, Kanton, 5 Batzen 1811, Lausanne. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Vaud, five batzen of 1811, Lausanne mint. About Uncirculated.)"
Formerly a Bernese bailiwick, Vaud joined the Swiss Confederation as an independent canton in 1803, at which time it began to issue coins. This type was struck 1807 and 1810-14. The 1811 is the most common but no date is rare. Five batzen was one eighth of a thaler.
Record mintage: 561,586 for 1807-14.
