This specimen was lot 22243 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Lira, 1867-M BN. PCGS MS-65 Secure Holder. Lustrous with some areas of multicolored highlights." This type was struck at the Turin and Milan mints 1863 and 1867 during the reign of Victorio Emanuele II of Italy. It is struck to the same standard as the contemporary French franc. The next issue of silver lire would be in 1883.
