Sincona sale 63, lot 136

This specimen was lot 136 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$439 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS, Elizabeth II. 1952-. 100 Dollars 1976. Auf ihren 50. Geburtstag. Polierte Platte. In Originalfolder. (British Virgin Islands, Elizabeth II, 1952-, one hundred dollars of 1976, on her fiftieth birthday. Choice Proof, In original folder.)" This is another Non-Circulating Legal Tender coin issued and marketed by the Franklin mint on behalf of the British Virgin Islands before it withdrew from coinage operations in 1985.

Recorded mintage: 10 pieces matte + 1,752 uncirculated + 12,000 proofs.

Specification: 7.10 g, 0.900 fine gold.
