This specimen was lot 2074 in Goldberg sale 112 (Los Angeles, September 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Denmark. Speciedaler, 1853-FK/VS. Frederick VII. Head right. reverse: Crowned arms within wreath. Abundance of original mint fresh luster. NGC graded AU-58." In 1874, Danish coinage underwent a decimal reform and Denmark joined the Scandinavian Monetary Union. The last crown sized coin was issued in 1872. This type was struck at Copenhagen (KM 744.1) and Altona (KM 744.2) 1849, 1853-54.
