from the Stack's Bowers 2017 NYINC sale, lot 6486
Westphalia SB117-6486r.jpg

This specimen was lot 6486 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Westphalia. 1/6 Taler, 1812-B. Brunswick Mint. NGC MS-64. KM-unlisted. High grade and lustrous with diaphanous multi-hued toning over all of the surfaces." This is actually an unlisted date of KM 88 (listed for 1808-13 from Cassel (F) and Clausthal (C)). The listed dates are not expensive. Jerome, Napoleon's brother, served him faithfully, stripping his domain of men and money for the Russian campaign. The kingdom collapsed after the battle of Leipzig. At the Congress of Vienna, the area was restored to its former lords, Hannover and Prussia.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 5.85 g, 0.500 fine silver, .094 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 88 (unlisted date).
