This specimen was lot 74467 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2024), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. 1/2 Penny, 1914-H. Birmingham (Heaton) Mint. George V. PCGS MS-64 Brown. Nicely preserved and attractive displaying rich brown patina with iridescent hues that pop out when rotated in the light. This near Gem offers much originality with a pleasing appearance and good eye appeal. From the Richard Margolis Collection." The type was struck 1911-36 at London, Calcutta, Melbourne, Sydney and Heaton (this specimen). The Heaton Mint produced this type 1914-15.
Recorded mintage: 1,200,000, a better date.
Specification: 5.67 g, bronze, 25.5 mm diameter, plain edge.
