This specimen was lot 30045 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $9,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "Boldly Defined and Lustrous Frederik V gold Ducat 1749-VH, MS63 NGC. Obv. King on horseback right. Rev. Crowned shield with banner of the Danish West Indies Company. A superior example of this very rare ducat, with full luster over reflective fields and boldly defined devices." This one year type is very rare, like the rest of the gold issues of Denmark during the period. A double ducat (Fr-274) accompanies this issue. Peter Nicolai von Haven was mintmaster at Copenhagen 1747-61.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, .979 fine gold.

Catalog reference: Fr-275, KM 577, Hede-17.
