Denmark 1748 ducat Fr-277
This specimen was lot 31286 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Ducat, 1748. Frederick V. NGC MS-60. An impressive type on account of its design, which provides a detailed illustration of King Frederick V on reared up horse on one side, while an intricate monogram of the king appears on the other. In the fields, near fully prooflike gleam accentuates the designs, while subtle orange tone compliments the vibrancy. While of minimal visual detriment, a few thin marks appear in the field behind the king's bust and prevent an even higher certified grade." This type accompanied a double ducat (Fr-276).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.49 g, 0.979 fine gold.
