This specimen was lot 1288 in Sincona sale 18 (Zurich, May 2014), where it was withdrawn prior to the sale. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Halbtaler 1580. Berlin. Selten. Sehr schön. (margraviate of Prussia, half thaler of 1580, Berlin mint, rare, very fine.)"
In 1580, Brandenburg was an insignificant state in the north of Germany, overshadowed by Saxony. Judging from the weight, this is a half gulden thaler (30 kreuzer), not a half thaler, which should be around 14-15 g.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver; this specimen is 11.81 g.
