Sincona sale 95, lot 4651

This specimen was lot 4651 in Sincona sale 95 (Zurich, October 2024), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$1,040 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Vierteldukat 1708, Zürich. Sehr selten. Vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, quarter ducat of 1708, Zürich mint. Very rare, Extremely Fine.)"

This type was struck 1708-09, 1712-16. Similar quarter ducats were struck for the remainder of the century.

Record mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.875 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 0.82 g.
