The first specimen was lot 56594 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "INDIA. Rupee, 1943-(B). Bombay Mint. George VI. PCGS MS-61." The second specimen was lot 56595 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "INDIA. Rupee, 1943-(B). Bombay Mint. George VI. PCGS AU-58." KM 556 is the large head (struck 1939-43) and KM 557.1 is the small head variety (struck 1942-45). For 1943, the large head is scarce and the small head is common.

Recorded mintage: 65,995,000 for both varieties.

Specification: 11.66 g, 0.500 fine silver, 30.5 mm diameter.
