Stephen Album internet sale 28, lot 1129

This specimen was lot 1129 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIAN EMPIRE: Alexander II, 1855-1881, AR 20 kopecks, 1862, St. Petersburg mint, Mikhail Ivanov mintmaster, a wonderful example! PCGS graded MS64, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." In 1867, the weight of the twenty kopeks was reduced from 4.14 g, 0.750 fine silver to 3.60 g, 0.500 fine silver and struck in that form until the collapse of the regime. This style was made 1860-66. Proofs exist.

Recorded mintage: 19,500,000.

Specification: 4.14 g, 0.750 fine silver, 22 mm diameter, reeded edge.
