Stack's Bowers February 2023 Collectors Choice sale, lot 74772

This specimen was lot 74772 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. 250 Kurush, 1923 Year 48 (1971). Ankara Mint. NGC MS-62. A fairly SCARCE date with a low mintage, this nearly-Choice example presents immense brilliance and just a hint of frosting upon the devices, further augmenting its appeal." This type was struck in limited quantities in years 20, 30-31 and 38-87. A 250 kurush monnaie de luxe also exists. This example sold for less than its bullion value.

Specification: 18.04 g, 0.917 fine gold, 0.5319 troy oz AGW.
