This specimen was lot 25385 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alexander II gold 5 Roubles 1879 CПБ-HФ, Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle / Date and value in circle, MS63 NGC. Full mint brilliance, with bold definition and light contact marks." This type is listed for 1859-85 and is fairly common in circulated condition. In 1886, the standard was revised to match the French twenty francs d'or, resulting in a weight reduction to .186 troy oz.
Recorded mintage: 7,225,000.
Specification: 6.54 g, .917 fine gold, .192 troy oz AGW.
