Steve Album sale 30, lot 1444
Sweden SA30-1444r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1444 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $158.63. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN: Carl XIV Johan, 1818-1844, AR ½ riksdaler, 1832, initials CB, small rim nicks, circular designs below bust hint at possible overstrike, VF-EF, Ex Dr. John Lund Collection." The reform of 1830 terminated the 1/6 and 1/3 riksdaler and introduced the 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4 and half riksdaler. This type was struck 1831-33 and 1836-38 and is not common. Another reform in 1855 would supersede this coin with a two riksdaler riksmynt.

Recorded mintage: 142,000, a better date.

Specification: 17 g, 0.750 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-631, SM74.
