This specimen was lot 23069 in Heritage sale 3023 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria gold Sovereign 1899-P, MS62 PCGS, scarcer date/mint." The Perth mint began minting sovereigns in 1899, supplementing the production of the Sydney and Melbourne mints.

Recorded mintage: 690,000.

Specification: 7.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, .2354 troy oz AGW.
