This specimen was lot 1860 in Classical Numismatic Group's auction of the Richard Lissner collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $665.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONDURAS, Republic. 1840-pres. AR 25 Centavos. Tegucicalpa mint. Dated 1888. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64. Superb iridescent blue, green, and amber patina over select choice surfaces. A truly beautiful coin and highest ever graded by far. Only Mint State example. Purchased from Meridian Coin Company, February 1976." This type is listed for 1883-1900 and priced fairly low but choice specimens are few. The fineness was reduced to 835 thousandths in 1899.
