This specimen was lot 72567 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Cent, 1957. Utrecht Mint; privy mark: fish. PCGS PROOF-66 Red Gold Shield. Another wholly unrivaled specimen, this dazzling, fully red Gem radiates with great appeal and exhibits just a small spot in front of the queen's nose, likely preventing an even higher designation." Queen Wilhelmina abdicated in 1948 in protest of Dutch colonial policy in Indonesia in favor of her daughter, Juliana, who would rule until 1980. New coin types were therefore necessary and were introduced in 1950. This bronze cent was struck without change until 1980. No dates are rare.
