This specimen was lot 24126 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $6,462.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "George VI Dollar 1951 FWL, MS67 PCGS, a Gem example with glowing mint brilliance and excellent details. Highly elusive in this select grade." This type was struck 1948 and 1950-52 and saved. Reverse varieties exist with "FWL" standing for "Full water lines," a variety obtaining no premium. The use of chrome plated dies imparted a mirror surface to the coins which rapidly picked up bagmarks. Flawless specimens such as this one are rare.
