This quarter real from the Bogotá mint was issued when Colombia was known as the Republic of Nueva Granada. It is known from 1850-52. The second specimen was lot 41058 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1/4 Real, 1850-BOGOTA. Bogota Mint. NGC MS-66. This magnificent Cuartillo is the undisputed "Top Pop". The velvety mint bloom displays a metallic gray mottled tone with subtle accents of amber color. Perfectly struck and radiant with luster, this survivor more than merits its elite grade. From the EMO Collection."
