The first specimen was part of lot 44258 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), which sold for $75. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Lot of (3) 2 Decimos, 1866 & 1867. Various Mints. F-12, VF-30, & EF-45 (PCGS). 3 pieces in lot. 1866 and 1867-Bogota, both have stars with 5 points and are solid for grade, and 1867-Popayan, with even wear and dark gray toning. No problem coins in lot. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." The second specimen was part of lot 44207 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), which sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Lot of (3) 2 Decimos, 1855-1867. Various Mints. VF-20 (2), & EF-45 (PCGS). 3 pieces in lot. 1855-Bogota PCGS VF-20, KM-117, Restrepo-192.4, most details visible with dark gray toning, 1857-Bogota PCGS EF-45, nice strike with light gray toning, and 1867-Popayan PCGS VF-20, even wear with dark gray toning, interesting 0.835/0.900 fineness type. No problem coins in lot. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." We show two varieties of this date, one stamped .835/.900 fine and the other .835/.666 fine. The .835/.900 die could have been left over from the production of KM 117, last issued in 1858, or KM 149, last issued in 1865.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 5 g, 0.835 fine silver, .134 troy oz ASW.
Catalog reference: the first specimen KM-149a.1, Restrepo type 279; the second specimen KM-149a.2, Restrepo-280.1.
