This specimen was lot 30649 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Estados Unidos gold 20 Pesos 1867-BOGOTA AU53 NGC, Bogota mint. A premium example of the type with fewer marks than are typical, nice luster and a particularly choice reverse. A rare date, cataloged as RRR in Sedwick." This type was struck at Bogotá 1862-77, Medellin 1867-72 and Popayán 1863-78. Despite the steady issue, the type is rare and expensive.
