This specimen was lot 12236 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1867 10 Pesos. Popayán mint. AU-50 (PCGS). Choice medium yellow gold with no problems. The base of an errantly punched 8 is seen far below the 1 in the date. A very elusive date in this series. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian and Ecuadorian Coins. From Hans M.F. Schulman's sale of June 1972, lot 138." This type was struck at Bogotá (Fr-102) 1862-66, Medellin (Fr-104) 1864-71 and Popayan (shown here) 1863-70. While not cheap, it is considerably more available than the five pesos.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 16.13 g, 0.900 fine gold.

Catalog reference: Restrepo M332.5, KM 141.3, Fr-103.
