Steve Album sale 54, lot 3408

This specimen was lot 3408 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "AJMAN: Rashid Bin Hamad al-Naimi, 1928-1981, AR 5 riyals, 1970/AH1390, Memorial to Late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, an incredible proof example, PCGS graded PF69 Deep Cameo." Ajman also had five riyals struck for Dag Hammarskjöld, Gandhi, M. L. King, Geo. Marshall, Bertrand Russell, Albert Schweitzer, Jan Palach, Albert Luthuli and the F.A.O. All of Ajman's coinage was struck 1969-70. The sheikdom joined the United Arab Emirates and coinage ceased. Gamal Nasser (1918-70), president of Egypt 1954-70, was the hero of Arab nationalism and the resistance to Israel. His pharaonic rule set the pattern for Egyptian leaders to this day.

Recorded mintage: 5,000.

Specification: 15 g, 0.925 fine silver, 30 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-12.
